Based on 1397 base pairs mitochondrial gene NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 (ND2), is well-supported sister to clade containing three undescribed species, ngati , and cf. interdigitalis with large uncorrected pairwise sequence divergence other ranging 15.4–22.1%. elok are poorly supported lineage remainder group. putatively diagnosable basis number meristic characters easily separated remaining by discrete morphological well its statistically significant wide separation multivariate morphospace. discovery continues underscore unrealized herpetological diversity upland forests that additional field work will undoubtedly result species.
